Educator of Curiosity
Hello Fabulous 5th Grade Families! Welcome to the wild world of 5th-grade ELA! I’m Mrs. Blackburn—book lover, grammar enthusiast, and certified champion of creative chaos. I believe learning should be loud with laughter, full of “aha!” moments, and sprinkled with just the right amount of glitter and metaphors. Watching students grow into thoughtful readers and fearless writers is my favorite part of the job (well, that and new school supplies). In my classroom, we don’t just learn—we explore, imagine, and sometimes dance while reviewing context clues. It’s never boring, and that’s just how I like it!
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Piedmont College, with a focus on ELA and Social Studies. I also hold a master’s degree in Educational Technology from Walden University, which means I love blending classic literature with creative tech tools to keep lessons fresh, fun, and full of discovery. I’m certified to teach kindergarten through 8th grade and also hold a gifted endorsement, so I also love finding new and challenging ways to engage all types of learners. Whether it’s writing with flair or diving deep into digital storytelling, I’m always finding new ways to make learning stick—and spark a little joy along the way!
