We worked on our next project! We are researching fossils. We are learning about science, reading, research, and presentations through this project. Many of us have already begun to create things for the project. We have a PBL fair (similar to a science fair) coming up on March 3rd. I am allowed to send 2 projects. At the end of next week, I will look at the projects and invite 2 groups to go. Good luck to all the students! I know they are going to learn a lot!
Read Aloud: We finished The Chocolate Touch!
This week we talked about fractions. We discussed how to compare fractions to one another. If a fraction has a large number in the denominator, the fraction will be smaller than a fraction with a smaller denominator.
We also talked about geometry. We have discussed different things through our math calendar, but we are beginning to focus on different shapes and their attributes. We began by drawing out the shapes and talking about what they were and how we know. We are going to continue this next week.
*Please make sure your student is completing their math calendar each night. We go over the problems everyday. If your child has not completed it, they are missing out on learning. They are welcome to do more than one column a night, but make sure they have done at least one column a night.
- Conferences are February 24th and 25th. Information went home today about how to sign up. The website to sign up will be available beginning Monday at noon through Thursday, February 18th at noon. The link will be on Sugar Hill’s website. If you are wanting to sign up, please make sure you schedule a conference this week. If you have multiple children that attend Sugar Hill, you can schedule the conferences back to back.
- Please make sure you are checking your child’s agenda every night. This is where we write down our homework and upcoming tests. I check their agenda each day to see if it is signed. Encourage your child to be responsible and bring their agenda to you to sign; however, if you do not see it, please ask your child to see it.
